It never ceases to amaze me at the number of hits certain blog post receive.

So far as I've seen, you've got the makings of a really successful blog here. Oh it's going to take time, so don't get me wrong. But just wait until you get your first 1000 hits in a single day. And then 10,000. And then, ...well, THEN your wife won't be the only one with restless leg syndrome. As in deed it will be as if you had just received the Trucker of the Year Award!
Oh you're gonna love this blogging stuff. And you can even make money blogging. Though not as much as trucking. But nevertheless, I'm sure you could use an extra $1000 a month, couldn't you?
Yep, it's possible. And particularly because, I think your blog fills a "niche". Which is something that Most bloggers are still searching for.
I note, "you don't know how much time you will have to devote to this". So realistically, you're probably looking at 1yr before you make you first $100.00. But then, I don't figure your trying or planning to make money at this, so that shouldn't be a problem. Still, it's good to know the truth, as otherwise, one can get frustrated very easily "if", you're trying to make money fast.
But you're only trying to help people (truckers) by giving them the benefit of your 30 year experience. Which is why I am here. To give you the benefit of my blogging experience.
Oh don't worry, it's not going to cost you anything (though a link in your sidebar to my blog would be appreciated). Which, will do for my first tip as you're going to need, "Readers"! And that means you need other bloggers linking to your blog so that they (your future readers) can find you. Note also that the more you have linking to you, the greater your Page Rank. And the greater you PR, the more the Search Engines will choose your blog over someone else's.
Go to your blogger Dashboard and "Edit Your Profile" to include, "Trucking" as one of your interests. Save your profile, and the view it. You will now see "Trucking" as a hyperlink. Click it, and it will take you to the profiles of every blogger on blogger.com who has also listed "Trucking" as one of their interest. (This is how I found your site as you listed NASCAR as one of your interest.) Once you have blogger.com's profile list of bloggers interested in trucking. Visit each one and contact them by leaving a comment on their blog. Tell them about your blog. And "ask" if they would like to "Trade Links". (Typically known as a, "Link Exchange".) Further, ask if they accept "Guest Post", and then write a post for their blog, with a link back to your blog.
Am I going to fast for you? Well, not worry as there a LOT more to be learned. The main thing for now however, is just to keep up with the Great post. I mean, I haven't read all of them yet, but from just what I have read, I can tell that they are post worth reading. By the way, I checked out your wife's blog and you should design your sidebar to look more like her's as you need you "Labels" and "Popular Post" up where they will be seen.
