While Descending a 7-percent grade, my trailer’s brakes failed (thank goodness for anti-lock braking systems). The culprit was the trailer wiring harness plug—it had popped out of the receptacle on my truck. Having a small spring clip is not the most secure means of holding such a critical part in place. Ever since then, I make sure to secure the flap and plug in place with a simple cable tie.
