Updated: Wisconsin State Trooper Mark Barlar and His Attack on Truckers!

Truckers beware in Milwaukee County!

Contains updated comments below from Jan, 2013.

The link to the actual "news" video follows below. All you fellow cheeseheads, we don't need to watch WTMJ News 4 out of Milwaukee! or listen to their radio station. This kind of cheap, slanderous crap just to get ratings really ticks me off. What's worse is that clown of a law enforcement "professional" that plays along with them! I would encourage you to watch the video "newscast". If you are a professional driver, you will be outraged. This was originally posted on 5/17/12. Evidently, the speed trap is still there, based on a new comment from "anonymous" below!
WTMJ News 4 in Milwaukee announces in their “hatchet job”,
“But chasing down truck drivers is a job too big for Speedbusters alone, so they teamed up with an expert -- Wisconsin State Patrol Inspector, Mark Barlar.  And he knows these cowboys of the highway better than anyone.”

Actual quotes from Super Trooper Mark Barlar!
"They want to speed, they want to tailgate, they want to get to their next destination because they want to try to make some money," said Inspector Barlar.

"Their reaction times are a lot slower.  They fall asleep.  And if they fall asleep, they're gonna hit somebody and they will kill people," noted Inspector Barlar.

You think this jerk maybe has an ax to grind with truck drivers? There are millions of safe professional drivers that work every day, have families that they share the road with and are just out to make a decent living. This kind of prejudice really gets me riled up!

  2. This is the most Insulting reporting job I've ever read of my Profession, DANGEROUS SPEEDING TRUCKERS I guess it was a slow news day. Why don’t you report on the DANGEROUS TEXTING SPEEDING PUTTING ON MAKEUP WHILE DRIVING CARS...

  4. This was completely appalling to watch last night. This news team doesn't even realize how many people they just turned off to their channel. Drivers and their families take something as negative as this story was very serious. You insulted millions. >

    1. The driver you pulled over was doing 63, in what a 60 mph zone? We should shackle him and give him 50 wet noodle lashings. What a joke this story was. Educate yourselves before you jump into something that bigger than anyone in that studio. >Report
      1. Instead of installing more fear into the motoring public, you should consider doing a series on informing and educating people and the way to drive around big rigs. You have 2 of the largest truck companies based in WI, one dry van, one refrigerated.
    1. 157....157 CMV drivers stopped for speeding 10+ over in 3 days. Avg speed...66 in a 50 mph construction zone. All done in the same location as the news story. on Wisconsin State Trooper Mark Barlar and His Attack on Truckers! By Anonymous on 1/19/13

That sounds like a speed trap to me! Either there is inadequate signage or the speed limit is set unreasonably low. Most all truck drivers observe reasonable traffic laws! They have to, in order to stay employed! I don't know if your comment is in support of the troopers or against, but something isn't right when all these commercial drivers are getting nailed. I've been living in Salt Lake City for 20 years and have not been in that area much, but come on! 157 professional drivers??? Something is wrong and believe me, I've seen the Ohio State Patrol set up many revenue traps, (sitting at the bottom of a gradual downhill stretch, where if a driver is on cruise control, and doesn't realize his loaded truck is gaining speed, and bam, open your wallet!) using interstate truckers as cash cows! 1. Dan, that is really horrible! Being the proud sis of two really great truckers, I think this guy and the news should get a whopping, and perhaps be sued!

  2. It is not known to the public just how many lives truckers save. They are always the first on scene and are the ones to call 911. report DUI drivers and so fore.

  4. 157 citations issued for speeding in a work zone accumulated in 3 days in about 6hrs per day. Since then speed in CMV's significantly reduced. Crashes significantly reduced. Fatalities significantly reduced. Speed on CMV's still significantly reduced even though the construction zone is gone. We did our job and it's paying dividends in lives saved. Signage was abundant in the zone and conviction rate was 100%
